Deck & Fence Staining in Niagara Region

Bare or worn wood outdoors turns grey, cracks and splinters as sun and moisture break down the surface fibres. A good stain job slows that down, but only if the stain soaks into clean, sound wood.

We clean decks, fences, pergolas and porches, strip failing stain where needed, apply a wood brightener to restore the natural colour, and let the wood dry before staining. You can choose transparent, semi-transparent or solid stains depending on how much grain you want to show and the condition of the wood.

New pressure-treated lumber usually needs time to dry out before it will accept stain; we will tell you whether yours is ready.

We provide deck and fence staining across Niagara Region, including St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Grimsby, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Fort Erie. Call (647) 797-9471 for a free estimate.

Deck & Fence Staining questions

Deck & Fence Staining FAQs

Common questions about deck & fence staining.

How often should a deck be stained?+
Horizontal surfaces wear fastest. Many decks need a maintenance coat every two to three years, while fences and vertical surfaces last longer. Lighter, more transparent stains need recoating sooner.
Should I paint or stain my deck?+
Stain is usually the better choice for deck boards because it does not form a thick film that peels under foot traffic. Solid stain or paint can work on railings and skirting.
Can you stain a new pressure-treated deck right away?+
Usually not. New treated lumber is often too wet to absorb stain. A simple water-drop test shows whether it is ready.
What weather do you need for staining?+
Dry wood, no rain in the forecast for at least a day, and temperatures within the stain manufacturer's range.
Do you repair deck boards?+
We stain and finish. If boards or framing need replacing, have a carpenter do it first and we will stain the new and old wood together.
